Recruiting Updates 11-21-13

John Neis 11-21-13 email: John.Neis@BisoNation.info

Last week I brought you the first edition of Recruiting Updates and touched on all of the verbals.  I thought this week I could talk more about the offers, but with such a busy week I have to start with today’s news.  QB/WR/DB/Mr Everything Eric Bachmeier from Kindred North Dakota reports his first DI offer and it’s to the Bison.  He says he is being recruited as an athlete, meaning they will evaluate him in fall camp to see where he fits in best.  Eric has taken numerous unofficial visits to NDSU this year alone and it’s safe to say NDSU is his clear #1 choice at this point.

The Bison staff stuck close to home again earlier this week when they offered Ezra Szczyrbak. The 6’5″ Moose Lake big man projects to redshirt year one and add to his frame to help NDSU along the defensive line. NDSU was the first DI offer for Ezra.

NDSU also offered Waupaca’s Nate Jenson who is from the same high school as Brock Jensen.  Nate also played many postions in high school and standing at 6’6″ and weighing in around 230 he could end up as a tight end or even somewhere along the D-Line.  NDSU was Nate’s first DI offer.

One player had numerous other DI offers but gave NDSU a verbal commitment. Madison, Wisconsin’s Marcus Collins says he turned down 5 FBS offers for the chance to win at NDSU.  Collins is another great athlete who played numerous positions in high school.  Collins plans to play a move tight end in at NDSU.   I had a chance to ask him a few questions after his verbal, you can check out the interview here Collins was verbal #11 but plans to report and enroll for spring ball meaning he would not count towards the 2014 recruiting class. This may open up another spot to bring in a scholarship player in the fall.

Verbal #12 comes from Bismarck. Defensive End Stanley Jones has the agility of a outside linebacker but the power and height to play D-End.  With a redshirt year he should add some bulk and be helping the front 7 push around opposing teams offensive lines very soon.

Other News of Note:
James Banks confirms his planned date to take an official visit to NDSU
Malik Johns reports he will visit Samford and UMass, says NDSU visit is still possible
Cody Poock picks up Big Ten offer, plans to visit 2 BCS schools who have not offered yet
Casey McDermott Vai took an official to NIU a few weeks ago, would still like to visit Fargo before he makes his final decision
