Recruiting Updates 1-11-14
Many fans have packed up shop and are celebrating the 2013 championship thinking football is done for the season. Little do they realize some of the most important battles for Coach Klieman and his staff are going on right now along the recruiting front lines. Maybe that is why there are fans who look at this month leading up NLI day as the most exciting time of the year. With 15 reported verbal commitments, one unconfirmed transfer in King Frazier and one PWO this class looks great and there is still a ways to go to fill it out.
The next four weekends will be big for verbals, offers and high targets will be taking official visits to the NDSU campus. This weekend (1-10/12) there are 5 athletes confirmed that are traveling to Fargo. The top priority is getting Easton Stick 100% committed. Stick is the only verbal in town and is rumored to be considering visits to a couple FBS schools later this month. One confirmed Wyoming/NDSU target in Fargo is North Kansas City’s Ryon’e Winters. Who appears to be enjoying his trip so far
My fellow recruits real cool too! Could see myself playing with them in the future

Winters holds an offer from almost every Missouri Valley school and was offered by Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl a week before the FCS national championship game. A line is being drawn in the sand over these two recruits and the battle for them will be fierce. Wyoming can pitch early playing time and chance to build a program up. NDSU can pitch the chance to compete for a National Championship at a university that has a great tradition and dedicated fanbase. 2 Illinois athletes have made the trip also in Stacey Smith Jr and Dakota Reid. Smith projects to play a slot receiver in college and holds offers from Eastern, Southern and Western Illinois. Defensive back Dakota Reid is new to the site and I hope to update his offer list at some point this weekend. DB’s is a big need and I believe they are looking to add 6 DB’s in this class. Jalen Allison out of Nebraska was the first reported verbal but as of now that is it. I had Lance Dunn at CB but the more I look at the offers and the verbals, it’s looking more like he will end up at running back. Another big need for the 2014 class is DT and Blake Williams is a top target in town. Williams is the only Michigan target I know of and has 7 reported FCS offers.
These next 3 1/2 weeks will be intense along the recruiting trail and it will be fun to find out who wants to be a Bison when NLI day comes. Those Who Stay Will Be Champions
