Recruiting Notes (6-15)
The offers are coming in hot and the most I have ever seen before summer camp. Why is that? There are a numerous factors that we can point to:
1) Huge senior class means this will be a full recruiting class unlike the last few years. Expect in the ballpark of 75 reported offers.
2) The exposure from the back to back championships have made it easier for coaches to get into serious conversations with athletes who may not have even answered the call 10 years ago. I think the two offers in Missouri proves this theory.
3) Every day, its easier to view potential recruits from the coaches office. The more websites like hudl, youtube and rivals get high quailty video out, the more time coaches can spend evaluating the player.
I guess a little nod can be given to this websites presence. There have been 14 offers this year and if your only source of Bison football news is the local media, well you wouldn’t have heard of one of them. Last year I worked with the Bisonville community for the 2013 recruiting class. For the first time in anyone’s memory every recruit was a reported verbal before they signed their LOI. Maybe the Fargo media doesn’t want to report it if this site or Bison related sites get the info out first. Or maybe they are smarter than all of us and know none of these guys are going to end up in Fargo.
And they may not be far off. Neither Phillips or Stoltenberg from Nebraska will ever visit. Offering Roberts from Chicago the day after Illinois offered and Cizauskas hours after Minnesota offered is odd. The next time coaches win a recruiting battles vs B1G teams, it will be the first time. I would be surprised if either of the other Illinois athletes gives NDSU a serious chance, but they have surprised before (Dee Gray) Both of the new Missouri offers are interesting prospects. Hard to find much info on Casey McDermott Vai as he doesnt have a Rivals, Scout or 247 page (or at least I cant find one) According to Rivals Nate Clouse he had 18 sacks last year. Morrison is a really interesting prospect and you can see it in his hudl videos. To offer a potential Ram from so far away is not the norm.
It’s safe to say all these offers we have reported so far, are players that are at the top of NDSU’s board at their respective positions. If they can land anyone one of them they will be celebrating.
